Redefining the Road, the official magazine of WIT, acknowledges outstanding performers in Leadership, Operations & Safety, HR/Talent Management, Sales & Marketing, and Professional Driving roles. The award recipients embody WIT's mission to promote women's employment in the transportation industry, recognize their achievements, and address the challenges they face. These women are resourceful, creative, and talented individuals who bring diverse ideas, value, and results to their businesses and the industry at large.

Meet Jessica Hart

We sat down with Jessica Hart to hear what winning this award means to her.

Q: What does the “Top Woman to Watch in Transportation” award mean to you?

JESSICA: It is an honor to be recognized for my hard work and dedication in transportation and logistics. It also serves as a reminder that I can achieve great things and positively impact the industry at large. This award is a testament to the importance of women in transportation and a reminder that we can make a difference.

Q: What does the award mean to the other women at TRAFFIX?

JESSICA: The “Top Women to Watch in Transportation” award is a great source of inspiration for other women at our company. It affirms that hard work, dedication, and collaboration lead to success, regardless of gender or any other societal barrier. It serves to encourage other women at TRAFFIX to strive for excellence and never give up on their dreams.

Q: Why is it important to promote women in this industry?

JESSICA: Promoting women in the industry is important because it creates a more equitable and diverse workplace. Women bring a unique perspective to the table and are often underrepresented in the industry. By promoting women, the industry can benefit from their skills, talents, and perspectives. Additionally, women in leadership roles can help create a more inclusive environment, leading to better collaboration and innovation. It can help close the gender gap and provide more opportunities for women to advance in their careers.

Q: What obstacles do you see in the way, and in what ways can those obstacles be minimized?

JESSICA: One of the major obstacles facing women in logistics is the lack of recognition and support from their male counterparts. Women often face gender bias in the workplace and are not given the same opportunities as their male counterparts. This can lead to a lack of confidence and feeling overlooked. To minimize this obstacle, companies should create a culture of inclusivity and support for women in logistics. This can be achieved by providing equal opportunities for training and promotion, recognizing and rewarding achievements, and creating a safe and comfortable environment for women to work in.

Additionally, companies should ensure that there is an equal representation of both men and women in leadership positions and that women are given the same amount of respect and recognition as their male colleagues. Companies should provide mentorship programs and networking opportunities for women in logistics, ensuring they can access the same resources and support as their male counterparts.

Q: What is the culture for women like at TRAFFIX?

JESSICA: At TRAFFIX, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive culture for all women. We recognize women's unique contributions to our organization and strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected and valued. We believe in providing equal opportunities for career growth and are 100 percent dedicated to helping our female employees develop their skills and reach their full potential. We are committed to creating a workplace where all women can thrive through resources such as our Women in Transportation Employee Resource Group.
