TRAFFIX joins Blockchain in Transport Alliance

By   |

2018 is here, and we have already started the year off by showing our commitment to embracing technology and influencing the growth of the transportation industry across North America. We are excited to announce, that TRAFFIX has joined the Blockchain in Transport Alliance (BiTA)!

For more than three decades, our mission has been to put people first—our customers, our carriers, and our team, and joining BiTA is just an extension of that mission. 2018 has already brought with it significant changes to the transportation industry, and these impressive leaps forward in innovation and technology are only going to continue to affect trucking as we know it. By being at the forefront of the rise of blockchain technology in this sector, it is just one way that we are working to set the stage for success for our customers for years to come.

TRAFFIX's Director of Information Technology, Carlos Trivino shares that, “There is no question that we have invested heavily in technology at TRAFFIX. This has allowed us to grow over 120% last year and there is no sign of stopping. Our mission is to stay on top of the curve when it comes to technology in the transportation sector, which is why we have joined the Blockchain in Transport Alliance to help form the standards and assist in developing blockchain technology in the supply chain world.”

“TRAFFIX aims to be on the leading edge of technology, and being a part of this organization will allow us to comment on and be at the forefront of the implementation of Blockchain Transportation Standards,” he adds. “Blockchain is having a positive impact in the supply chain world, specifically in RFP’s, EDI, POD’s, Invoicing, Driver HOS, etc., just to name a few. Its ability is virtually limitless, and we cannot wait to be part of this innovative and growing technology in the transportation sector.”

In 1979, Chuck Snow, the CEO and founder of TRAFFIX, established a place for himself within the transportation industry. He quickly started working to change the system of regulations and inefficiencies that offered very few benefits to customers and trucking companies. As one of Canada’s first load brokers, we reduced costs and worked to eradicate “empty” miles, while focusing on developing long-lasting relationships with our customers. Our commitment to our customers is seen in our decision to invest in establishing offices in key transportation "hubs" across North America.

Now in 2018, we are at the forefront of another critical shift in logistics. Blockchain technology is impacting the industry, as it is providing a secure way of accepting and managing transactions while hosting information in a secure digital network. While transactions and private information can be shared and monitored by those using this technology, shipments can also be tracked, and the data used to assist companies in increasing the efficiency of their shipping solutions while streamlining their records.

As more and more information is being shared online, increased transparency is catching customers’ attention as they can better discern if a company is worthy of their business. Blockchain allows there to be increased transparency between the customers and the company, allowing customers to acknowledge and understand the entire shipping process and why, or if, there are delays or unforeseen issues with their shipments. While blockchain is becoming increasingly popular within the transportation industry, sectors across the board should be investigating how blockchain will be of assistance to them in their particular field.

“It has extensive promise for every industry,” said Craig. “By using blockchain they can reinvent the very nature of commercial activity, remove intermediaries and have much more fluid business processes that can be conducted in various ecosystems.” -Craig Fuller, CEO of TransRisk and Co-founder of the Blockchain in Trucking Alliance

TRAFFIX is just one of several companies who are utilizing blockchain technology, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this to our customers. There is no question that we are passionate about what we do, and it is thrilling to see more and more companies recognize and acknowledge the importance of blockchain technology in securing the growth and stability of this industry.
